Trinity files patent complaints

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Irish medical device maker Trinity Biotech Plc said Wednesday it had filed patent infringement complaints against Becton Dickinson & Co. (BDX ) and Unilever Plc (ULVR.L).

Trinity said in a statement it has alleged the two companies of violating a patent issued on August 25, 1992, for the formatting of devices for rapid diagnostic tests, including, pregnancy tests.

Trinity said it had yet to serve the complaints on the companies involved pending commercial negotiations.

Spokesman at Becton Dickinson and Unilever were not immediately available to comment.

Trinity did not say when or where it filed the complaints and a spokesperson was not immediately available to provide more details.
