| Back to Press Releases Trinity Biotech Awarded $600,000 by the Irish Trade Board Dublin, Ireland, April 30, Trinity Biotech (NASDAQ:TRIBY) today announced that it has received a $600,000 marketing assistance package from the Irish Trade Board, an Irish governmental agency. The funds will be made available to Trinity over a two-year period and will be used to supplement the company's marketing expenditures for the European launch of Trinity's Uni-Gold rapid diagnostic tests. Trinity will repay the funds through a royalty levied on European sales. Repayments will commence in the third year of the program. Trinity has recently hired three new marketing and sales staff: Jim Reid, Damian Bond and David Shirley. Jim Reid, Trinity's Director of Sales and Marketing, was previously European Marketing Director for Chiron Diagnostics. Prior to that, Mr. Reid was Head of European Business Development for the diagnostics division of Hoffman LaRoche. With over twenty years experience in the diagnostics industry, Mr. Reid has extensive experience in developing strategic alliances and collaborative R&D agreements, as well as establishing and managing distributor networks in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Damian Bond, Trinity's Director of Marketing -- Rapid Diagnostics, was previously Sales and Marketing Manager for Tepnel plc, a UK diagnostics company. Prior to that, Mr. Bond was International Marketing Manager for the Unipath division of the Unilever Group, with responsibility for marketing Clearblue and Clearview, Unipath's rapid diagnostic products. Mr. Bond, who has extensive knowledge of rapid diagnostics, will be responsible for marketing the Uni-Gold product line in Europe. David Shirley, Trinity's International Sales Manager, was previously International Sales Manager for Murex Diagnostics. Prior to that, Mr. Shirley was International Sales Manager of Wellcome Diagnostics, with responsibility for Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. Mr. Shirley has extensive knowledge of these diagnostic markets, particularly in the area of HIV and other infectious diseases.
