Andorra's charm stems largely from its mountain landscapes, the diversity of its botanical patrimony and its animal species. The rich environment surrounding Andorra converts it into an ideal place where to enjoy nature.
There is no better way to discover these beautiful natural settings than to wander through the different mountain trails (three of those are GRs -long treks-) on foot, by mountain bike or by horse. It allows to discover lakes with crystal-clear water, vast forests of an unequalled ecologic value, or to catch sight of some izards Rupicapra pyrenaica, wild boars, foxes, wood grouses, falcons, vultures or eagles. Fario trouts and some spring-salmons fill the rivers and lakes.
There is a great variety of plant life here too, comprising between 950 and 1,150 recorded species including orchids, daffodils, campanulas, violets (12 species) and botanical species as the wild celery, liquorice roots, etc.

Mountains, which are dotted with fields, forests and pastures, are the country's most important natural resource.
To hike on the trails and paths that cross the andorran territory represent a healthy and enjoyable activity to discover great part of these natural treasures. It also offers our visitors the possibility to contemplate an almost secrete side of the country, far from the urban areas: an activity destinated to the persons willing to walk and endowed with a spirit of adventure. It is also the best way to admire some of the quite unknown examples of its art and culture integrated in a landscape of a unique beauty.
Moreover, there are 26 mountain refuges scattered throughout the territory and three long treks (GR 7, GR 11 and GRP 1) which cross quarries, forests, lakes and ponds areas.
