Andorra, the
Pyrenean country
The
Principality of Andorra is located in the heart of the Pyrenees, between
France and Spain.
The climate of Andorra is very pleasant and the air is pure.
The highest point is at 2,947 m (peak of Coma Pedrosa) and the lower
at 840 m (spanish-andorran border).
Andorra is divided into three Y-shaped valleys, washed by the rivers
Valira del Nord and Valira d'Orient, which join to form the
Grand Valira.
The
country has an extension of 468 sq. km, and a population of 65,306 inhabitants.
Andorra is administratively divided into seven parishes: Canillo, Encamp,
Ordino, la Massana, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria
and Escaldes-Engordany.
The mountain climate of Andorra is healthy and dry. The rainfall is
never excessive.
There is abundant snow in the winter and the temperatures are cold
but pleasant, since the weather is sunny all year round.
The bottom of the valleys is warm in the summer.
The official language is Catalan, but French and Spanish are widely
spoken.
